Dr. Mariette Chiasson

Dr. Mariette Chiasson has been a practicing dentist since 1993.

She graduated from Dalhousie University in 1987 with a Bachelor in Nursing. She nursed for several years in various settings but developed a love for community nursing and an interest in chronic disease.

In light of these interests, dentistry was a logical transition, marrying people-centered care and education to address the oral health of her clients. Dr. Chiasson went on to graduate from Dalhousie School of Dentistry in 1993 and immediately acquired her own dental practice.

Over the years, Dr. Chiasson has been involved in her dental community. For 10 years, she was a clinical instructor in the periodontal department of the Dalhousie Dental School. She served for several years as an emergency dental service provider for the Dalhousie Dental Clinic. She has participated numerous times in the provincial 4 Plus program whereby 4-year-olds visit the dental office and familiarize themselves with its services. Dr. Chiasson is an active member of the NSDA and the CDA.

Dr. Chiasson actively pursues continuing education courses in diverse dental subjects locally and abroad, keeping herself well informed about the newest dental developments and practices.

Voted “Best Dentist” in the Coast for numerous years, Dr. Chiasson commits herself to offering sound, personalized dental treatments, maintenance and prevention for all ages.

Dr. Melanie Fredette

Dr. Fredette graduated from dental school at Laval University, Quebec, in 2003 and practiced in both Maine and Minnesota. She received recognition for her service in rural dentistry from the Governor of Maine and was featured in the “best dentists” issue of Minnesota Monthly magazine in 2009.

Committed to keeping up with the latest techniques in advanced dentistry, Dr. Fredette regularly attends courses at the Kois Center for advanced dentistry in Seattle and is an active member of the East Coast Endodontic Study Club.

Dr. Fredette believes that prevention through patient education and providing excellent client service is the best approach to dentistry. To this end she is compassionate, gentle and detail oriented.

A strong commitment to community service has led Dr. Fredette to volunteer in Uganda, provide dental care for children in rural Maine, and volunteer her services for a Halifax’s women’s shelter.
